Hello, I am running a web server using FreeBSD 2.2.6 STABLE with FTP server (Version 6.00LS). A few ftponly users (all are chrooted) at different dial up accounts cannot log in and transfer files (about 5 out of 150). This is usually accompanied by an "invalid hostname" in the wtmp file. I do not have ftpd running thru tcpd wrappers at this time (although we did have the same problem when using tcpd wrappers). I have also had a couple of clients change their client ftp program setup to use "Passive Mode". Neither of this things seems to affect the user's ability to connect and transfer files. We have also tried compiling the ftpd program with the "LOGIN_CAP" option disabled, which also had no affect. Any information on how to correct this problem would be much appreciated. We have a number of users on the machine and really want the internal ls support so wu-ftpd is not really an option yet (I have heard they may support this by the fall).
