hi,

some time ago I tried to install freebsd 4.4 on my laptop - it did not work.
now I tried again with 4.6 - the same errors:

It boots from the cdrom and asks to configure the kernel, after this the
kernel boots. The last message, that seems to be ok is:

chip1: <Intel 82371AB Power management controller> port 0x1400 - 0x140f at
device 7.3 on pci0

after that it says:

pci_cfgintr_linked: linked (60) to hard-routed irq 10

Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode

.....

fault code = supervisor read page not present

......

current process = 0 (swapper)

......

panik page fault

i tried to disable / enable several features in the bios and in the kernel
config menu, but everything gives the same error messages. i used the
memory-test that comes with the newer suse-linux, it reported no errors.

someone got an idea?

thanks a lot

melanie
