I've done the following combinations: ACPI disabled - using GENERIC kernel ACPI enabled - using GENERIC kernel ACPI enable - using SMP (default) ACPI disabled - using extremely stripped down GENERIC ACPI enabled - using extremely stripped down GENERIC The system I have has 2 Xeon P4 processors which both are equiped with HyerThreading CPUS. So I also disabled HyperThreading in the BIOS and redid the above 5 steps with no avail. Cheers Jason Naughton
