Not having local entries > for root and wheel is just asking for trouble. I *have* a local entry for root, and I don't think that the contents of the passwd file matter for the problem in conf/18521. (They probably do for Damien, since his file is empty except for the NIS line). root:*:0:0:Charlie &:/root:/bin/csh <...other stuff...> +:*::::: As I said in the PR, in don't know why starting NIS before adding ipfw rules causes delays, but starting it after fixes things. Generally, I believe the firewall should be started as early in the boot process as possible anyway, right?
