Well, because another mechanism in the loader process is suppose to
do that for you automaticly.. It works over here, and there is no way
you should be able to boot kernel.old w/ kernel.old modules if that
mechanism fails to add the kernel path to the module path... hence,
on the systems it's failing, there is another issue...
