One advantage to these is that they actually keep most of the important stuff. If you'd like, I can try to get this design implemented in my Perforce repo. I don't mean to step on toes here -- if you're taking time for this as well, that's certainly fine by me :D. I haven't been following the thread, so I don't really know what your intentions are.

Where I got hung up last time is that the design Chris made with the three columns is really hard to implement with divs and CSS, when you want to be able to let the divs grow / shrink when the window is resized. If you've questions about how to integrate this with the current XML/SGML stuff, let me know, since Chris and I had to wade through that as well to get our work done.
