That's only true if you do things that you aren't supposed to do,
like increasing the audience beyond its initial scope to be pissy.

For example, everyone who is receiving this email already received
the email to which it is a reply.

So whether the reference is in a mailbox, or in an archive, as long
as they are both date-ordered, the will occur in the proper flow
order.
