People, Has anybody played around with getting FreeBSD to use the serial port (com1) as the console exclusively? We've just tried getting FreeBSD to boot only using the serial port, however we have had mixed results. It does not seem to matter what boot.config options we used. We got the boot up stuff through the serial: all the dmesg stuff, and the keyboard worked because we could skip the 10 seconds before booting the kernel. However as soon as that process finished, to the point that we expected to see "login:", we got nothing through the serial any more, and it was shown on the vga. Do we have to change the getty parameters? We also tried forcing the kernel to boot only through the serial port, using the serial flags: device sio0 at isa? port IO_COM1 flags 0x20 irq 4 Same results Thanks, m2m Technology To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-small" in the body of the message
