Nitpick: You are not seeing a "tag" in a CVS sense. This is just the kernel version string. Status: We're trying to get some last issues ironed out before the release (such as the READ_BIG problem some people had experienced on ATA CD-ROM drives). I'd say that we were a little optimistic about how long it was going to take to get these done. There's been a little discussion about these on the qa@ list, for those who are interested. (Most of you are aware of this, but until you get a PGP-signed email from the RE team on announce@, it's not "really" a release, regardless of what the kernel version string or CVS tags say.)
