If more people understood our intended uses of PAM, maybe more would
change applications to use it.

I'm not the only one that feels this way.  Gerhard posted this to
-security or -stable (don't remember which).  Since you're pretty
comfortable with PAM, could you reply to him?  Maybe we'll get more
documentation on it.
