A few days ago I asked for advice to resolve this : ad0: 29319MB <FUJITSU MPG3307AT> [59570/16/63] at ata0-master UDMA66 Waiting 15 seconds for SCSI devices to settle Mounting root from ufs:/dev/da0s1a da0 at sym0 bus 0 target 0 lun 0 da0: <IBM DGHS09V 03E0> Fixed Direct Access SCSI-3 device da0: 40.000MB/s transfers (20.000MHz, offset 15, 16bit), Tagged Queueing Enabled da0: 8748MB (17916240 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 1115C) ad0: UDMA ICRC WRITE ERROR blk# 2111 retrying ad0: UDMA ICRC WRITE ERROR blk# 2111 retrying ad0: UDMA ICRC WRITE ERROR blk# 2111 retrying ad0: UDMA ICRC WRITE ERROR blk# 2111 falling back to PIO mode the unanimous feedback was that I should get an IBM IDE hard drive (the SCSI is already IBM). Well a strange thing happened, on whim (and since this is not a production server yet) I upgraded my system to 4.3-RC and now the system has no complaints on boot. I am still upgrading to an IBM hard drive, but would love to find out what is different in 4.3-RC thats resolved this?
