[-- Attachment #1 --] I started this thread on May 31 of last year: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-current/2008-May/085923.html The problem remains as of: FreeBSD fugu.marcuscom.com 8.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 8.0-CURRENT #12: Sun Mar 1 16:10:52 EST 2009 gnome@fugu.marcuscom.com:/space/obj/usr/src/sys/FUGU i386 The only way I can boot this system is to hack in the ATA code from April 9, 2008. I would love just to be able to boot this guy on a default -CURRENT. I see that I didn't include the pciconf output before, so here it is: hostb0@pci0:0:0:0: class=0x060000 card=0x01561028 chip=0x25788086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82875P/E7210 DRAM Controller / Host-Hub Interface' class = bridge subclass = HOST-PCI pcib1@pci0:0:1:0: class=0x060400 card=0x00000000 chip=0x25798086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x01 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82875P PCI-to-AGP Bridge' class = bridge subclass = PCI-PCI uhci0@pci0:0:29:0: class=0x0c0300 card=0x01561028 chip=0x24d28086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI Controller' class = serial bus subclass = USB uhci1@pci0:0:29:1: class=0x0c0300 card=0x01561028 chip=0x24d48086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI Controller' class = serial bus subclass = USB uhci2@pci0:0:29:2: class=0x0c0300 card=0x01561028 chip=0x24d78086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI Controller' class = serial bus subclass = USB uhci3@pci0:0:29:3: class=0x0c0300 card=0x01561028 chip=0x24de8086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB UHCI Controller' class = serial bus subclass = USB ehci0@pci0:0:29:7: class=0x0c0320 card=0x01561028 chip=0x24dd8086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB 2.0 EHCI Controller' class = serial bus subclass = USB pcib2@pci0:0:30:0: class=0x060400 card=0x00000000 chip=0x244e8086 rev=0xc2 hdr=0x01 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801 Family (ICH2/3/4/4/5/5/6/7/8/9,63xxESB) Hub Interface to PCI Bridge' class = bridge subclass = PCI-PCI isab0@pci0:0:31:0: class=0x060100 card=0x00000000 chip=0x24d08086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) LPC Interface Bridge' class = bridge subclass = PCI-ISA atapci1@pci0:0:31:1: class=0x01018a card=0x01561028 chip=0x24db8086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) EIDE Controller' class = mass storage subclass = ATA atapci2@pci0:0:31:2: class=0x01018f card=0x01561028 chip=0x24d18086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB (ICH5) SATA Controller' class = mass storage subclass = ATA ichsmb0@pci0:0:31:3: class=0x0c0500 card=0x01561028 chip=0x24d38086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) SMBus Controller' class = serial bus subclass = SMBus none0@pci0:0:31:5: class=0x040100 card=0x01561028 chip=0x24d58086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '815B104D multimedia audio device (codec AC97) SoundMAX or VIA' class = multimedia subclass = audio vgapci0@pci0:1:0:0: class=0x030000 card=0x20021002 chip=0x59611002 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'ATI Technologies Inc' device = 'RV280 ATI RADEON 9200 se agp' class = display subclass = VGA vgapci1@pci0:1:0:1: class=0x038000 card=0x20031002 chip=0x59411002 rev=0x01 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'ATI Technologies Inc' device = 'RV280 ATI Radeon 9200 - Secondary' class = display fwohci0@pci0:2:0:0: class=0x0c0010 card=0x80101028 chip=0x581111c1 rev=0x61 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Lucent/Agere Systems (Was: AT&T MicroElectronics)' device = 'FW322 1394A PCI PHY/Link Open Host Ctrlr I/F' class = serial bus subclass = FireWire atapci0@pci0:2:1:0: class=0x018000 card=0x3375105a chip=0x3375105a rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Promise Technology Inc' device = 'PDC20375(??)
