I don't understand what you're trying to do.  Are you trying to format
(newfs)  these disks, or just mount them? 

For the newfs stuff, see my disk building docs at
http://resnet.uoregon.edu/dwhite/makedisk.html (no tilde) and look for the
Zip stuff.  I would assume that these drives act just like hard disks or
other SCSI removables.
