To help you out people would probably need more accurate info, like
where exactly did it fail and what errors did it give you?

It seems you're going the right way *if* your CD is supported. The
easiest way to check that is go to the "media" menu (I think it's under
custom or epert install - can't remember the exact location) and try to
set the media type to CDROM. If it doesn't complain you can install from
the CD. Otherwise, try moving your CD around (to be the slave on the
primary controller or the master on the secondary controller). If you
can't get your CD recognized you'll have to do a DOS install.
