I use merit here (we have approx 500 lines that utilize it) under freebsd
2.2.5 - and it works great! It will occationally lock up and race cpu
cycles if left running - so I have it in the inetd.conf, and I have a cron
job that kills it off every so often so that a new copy is invoked. We
have a mix of ascends and usr total controls so I needed something that
would allow both boxes to work of the same radius.
