I believe this fixes my VAIO PCG-F190.  Prior to these changes I had 
to ``cvs up -D20000320'' in sys/dev/sound/pc{i,m}, now things seem to 
function fine (I can bring up vmware again without getting a 
guaranteed hard-hang a bit later).
