I've had trouble with 3Com PCI Modems, and sysinstall.  Mines hung at
Probing devices...  Try pulling it out and see if it works.

hi, during install my system apparently hangs forever.
i've only waited 30 mins, which is damn long enough for a athlon xp
1633mhz, ddr 300 system.
 
on installation: "Probing devices, please wait (this may take a
while)..."
 
the first stage of install after kernel configuration.
And i cant get past that.
 
 
motherboard: EPOX 8K7A+
cpu: athlon xp 1.63ghz
ram: corsair xms2400 256mb x2
scsi_controller: adaptec 29160N
hard_disk(scsi): seagate cheetah X15, 15000rpm (ST318451LW)
hard_disk(ide): maxtor 91531U3
cd_rom(ide): plextor PX-W1610A
dvd_rom(ide): pioneer DVD-106
graphics(agp): nvidia geforce 3
sound: sb live! platinum 5.1
modem: 3com/USR 56k Performance Pro
monitor: sony cpd-g520
mouse(usb): microsoft intellimouse explorer usb
gamepad(usb): sidewinder freestyle pro us
kbd(ps2): acer egornomic
 
 
please help! it just wont go past this. and i have no idea what to do. i
thought this new 4.5 edition had a gui installational.grr.
