A while back I asked about a very serious problem I was having with getting serial consoles to work on my SMP box. Well... the machine was hooked up to another unix box that was acting as a console server. The console server was rebooted recently... and the problem I was having went away. Serial ports really are not supposed to be black magic, you know. Especially with the number of ex-DEC people I have in my building :).
