I bought this laptop about two years ago, I would guess.  I ordered it
with Linux (Canonical), but after a few months it wouldn't update any
longer.  I tried to restore from the recovery image, but it failed,
whining about a shim.  I then tried to use a recovery tool from Dell's
website, that failled too.

So I installed debian12 and have been running that until recently.

I installed FreeBSD and have no sound:

     vendor     = 'Intel Corporation'
     device     = 'Alder Lake PCH-P High Definition Audio Controller'
     class      = multimedia
     subclass   = audio
