Got an answer, perl is used in the test environment which we don't use in the port. So a quick workaround (until I got a patch from the author) is to have USE_PERL5_BUILD=yes. Do you - think USE_PERL5_BUILD=yes is enough until the next version is released? - commit USE_PERL5_BUILD yourself or give me approval to commit it?
