I did some "research" and finally found the answer in c't 2/96, p. 220: the DFRS is a _R_eengineered version of the DFHS. According to IBM the DFRS is not suitable for use in a server (bad for me). It does some internal calibration each 72 hours, that takes about 23 seconds. During this time the disk is not accessible.
