Just looking backward, i realize that i am doing a lot of work
on the kernel, and so are others. So, how about adding a new port
category, /usr/ports/kernel, where one can find various kernel
enhancements etc which for any reason did not find their way in the
main source tree ?
That would accommodate the following things:
* work in progress before inclusion in the kernel
(e.g. CDDA patches, IDE CDWriter support, vfat, ntfs,...).
* special drivers that very few people uses.
E.g. transputer, qcam, perhaps x10.
* special kernel patches/subsystem (e.g. ALTQ, dummynet, PAO, ...)
* backport of features from 3.0 (use at your own risk :) e.g.
IDE busmastering or whatever
Comments ?
This section would be highly dynamic, but in my opinion very useful.
cheers
luigi
