Eugene, if the problem is still actual for you, this is how you can get the
chipset:

$ sudo dmidecode -s baseboard-product-name
Standard PC (Q35 + ICH9, 2009)
$

On i440fx the output is:

$ sudo dmidecode -s baseboard-product-name
Standard PC (i440FX + PIIX, 1996)
$=20
