In attempting to build a customized set of packages for my FreeBSD 10.0 systems, I discovered that there are others having JVM crashes of various sorts as well. I found this post http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-java/2014-February/010582.html which offered the solution that did fix my crashing, so I wanted to add my voice to the chorus of people for whom it worked. Specifically, I am using poudriere to build the openjdk7 port. The bootstrap jdk6 kept dumping core until I disabled the vm.pmap.pcid_enabled setting.
