Dear Sirs. Configuring a diskless X terminal, I tried to compile several keyboard layouts into kernel. On our main machines I prefere us.iso keyboard layout due to programming and simply administering. But on a bunch of diskless X terms I was said to install a german.cp850 default layout, so I compiled into kernel by setting options ATKBD_DFLT_KEYMAP # specify the built-in keymap makeoptions ATKBD_DFLT_KEYMAP="german.cp850" this keymap as default. But after booting the new kernel I figured out that the layout still remains to us.iso! I tried to find out whether there is something changing in all the rc.xxxxxx stuff, but I never found anything. Therefore, I have problems under X, where I selected 102-key German type keyboard (MF2) but this seems to fail, I always have a US type keyboard. Kernel's terminal driver is pcvt (and this is a fixpoint, I do not want to change to SC type consoles!). I know that in the past there were lots of messed up things with X and the console driver, so are we back to this in FreeBSD 4.2-BETA? All boxes are running FBSD 4.2-BETA ... Thanks a lot ...
