What I'm worried about is the case where the md5 of the port doesn't
match the md5 on the server because the file on the server has been
updated and the port has not yet. This means that the first time
you type "make", it will fetch the file completely twice, and future
times it will refetch it, even if the fetches completely succeed.
All of these extra fetches are a waste of time and bandwidth.

  Bill
