Several people asked for this, so here it is. This is a copy of an
email I sent back in March when this first came up. I haven't tested the
patches in a while, but they are mostly one liners anyway so it wouldn't
be hard to replicate my work.

I've run with these patches on machines in all 3 branches, both in
production and at home since late March and haven't had a lick of trouble.

Ok, here's the scoop. I tested the following on both 4.0 and 3.4
-Stable's, and it works (of course :). I've attached the appropriate
patches for the various builds.

bin_Makefile.diff is for rmail, and applies to all 3 branches. This one
was easy since rmail is already conditionalized.

The attached patches deal completely with all the uucp files in /etc.

You already applied src/gnu/libexec/Makefile patch applies to all 3
branches.

I had to do the src/libexec patch by hand for 3.4 since the Makefile
structure is different, but it works.

I tested both with and without the NOUUCP flag, so I think we're good
to go. Anything else I can do to help, let me know.
