Hello, My FreeBSD partition is installed on a cyl. beyound 1024. So FreeBSD boot manager does not work. Howerver with 3.4 release I was able to use this great boot loader called GRUB. In there I could mount a root file system and then load the kernel. Something has changed in the 4.0 Release and while I still can mount the root file system, the FreeBSD compains that the mounted device is not the same as specified in /etc/fstab. What it means is that GRUB's understanding of the file system format and the 4.0 mount's understanding of the ffs are different (that means that ffs has changed). This guess is also enforced by the fact that I can no longer mount the FreeBSD partion from Linux (I tried 2.2.14 kernels and 2.3.51) What I would like to know first if there any possible way for me besides GRUB (that does not work now) to boot my freeBSD either from a harddrive or from a floppy -- does not matter.
