Well, quite frankly, it is often the newbie cutting his teeth who can write the best manual for other newbies. So, how about keeping notes on your own progress, then emailing a proposal to Tim O'Reilly, and writing a book yourself? I am not being facetious here. I bet Tim would jump on the occasion of publishing a decent FreeBSD book, especially by someone with your diverse experience in various types of Unix.
