Nice. Very classy argument.

Those are commodities that influence the basic needs of people (heat,
elctricity, telephones), and not what OS they use to play Quake. If we
open the door to this kind of government support, expect a clipper chip
inside your phone very shortly.

But what makes this a monopoly? We all have the ability to choose
products, and noone is taking that away. I personally will not be using
Windows98, and I personally would like to see MS get smart. However, I
disagree with this approach.

As I stated in other e-mails, we are missing the big picture. We need to
focus on promoting emerging technologies, instead of stunting existing
ones. Then we can all be winners. They should be investigating MS's
poisoning of Java instead of their integrated browser.
