In terms of iperf3, i.e. throughput, it's not really a workaround.

Setting
hw.vtnet.tso_disable=3D"1"
hw.vtnet.lro_disable=3D"1"
hw.vtnet.csum_disable=3D"1"

in the freebsd guest increases throughput by 5-20% but it's never linespeed=
 for
*any*
version of freebsd guest. It *is* near linespeed for linux guests.

The context here is freebsd host.
