Well, as a comment it leaves a lot to be desired too - it certainly
didn't help me to understand the function of the Makefile any better,
and if the option doesn't do anything then don't put this kind of
dreck in the Makefile.  If the option _does_ do something then it
shouldn't be commented out! ;-)
