Doesn't recent FreeBSD take an unusually long time to launch a program the first time? I am trying to isolate whether it is the exhausted HDD or FreeBSD that is causing the problem, but haven't done it yet :) ... and if this involves something called PAM, >From what little I have read of man 5 pam.conf, it seems that the file shou= ld not exist in /etc/pam.conf.
