I currently have a simple 2-nic router that works fine (thanks to all of you ;{) I was looking for info on setting up FreeBSD (2.2.6) as a router, so I thought I would do a search on the FreeBSD site ... Hmm, no search engine. Although I will search the faq's and handbooks the hard way, I wondered if there was a way to search the web site? Thanks for a great product. Incidentally, did you see the reply letter in Performance Computing (current issue, just arrived today) re. Linux vs. FreeBSD? I echo much of the writer's sentiments, including the comments about instability and learning curve of the various Linux versions. I do admit to a bit of discomfort. I agree that Microsoft makes Trablant's and Yugo's, and I regret the backseat that FreeBSD takes to Linux, but would rather have that than give anything to Micro$oft. I do have to give credit to M$ for raising the calibre of operating system software: they forced HP to give up on their half-assed product, Sun to get off their butts, and at the same time provide us with cheap hardware and products. So, thanks again, and please be aware that a lot of the silent folks (like me) appreciate what you do and do prefer your path to the Linux path (or God forbid, the NT/95 "path") for foundation stuff like routers, Samba servers, web servers, etc. -- Daemeon Reiydelle Systems Engineer, Anthropomorphics Inc. v - 510-524-0310 f - 510-451-0118 daemeonr@anthros.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-doc" in the body of the message
