I don't know what exactly this is (although after a segmentation fault, afaik you get a core dump), but i faced this error lots of times with net-p2p/rtorrent . After installing net-p2p/rtorrent-devel, most of these segfaults are gone (and the interface is far more improved). So why don't you give rtorrent-devel a try?
