What kind of load are you putting on your box ? I run several SMP machines under FreeBSD. If you have proper cooling, you should have no problem under full load. I always purchase nice heatsink fan combos with higher RPM speeds than OEM fan/heatsink combos. For an SMP box it's worth it to spend an extra $40 on fans.
