I tried a different search query and actually found a similar question on the forums: http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=35014 Your solution looks a bit cleaner than the one proposed there: "rm -r /usr/src/.svn, and then check out the new branch". I'll check out the man for svn switch.
