Dear Ladies an Gentlemen, I am writing to seek expert advise on the following: Platfrom : FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE Apps : Apache_1.3.29, mod_ssl-2.8.16-1.3.29, mod_perl-1.29 php-4.3.5 After recompiling the above (I use a home-brewed script), apache fails to start. I get the following error in httpd-error.log: [Sat Mar 27 10:58:52 2004] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down [Sat Mar 27 10:59:01 2004] [warn] make_sock: problem listening on port 80, \ filedescriptor (1074) larger than FD_SETSIZE (1024) found, you probably need \ to rebuild Apache with a larger FD_SETSIZE Now, if I modify /usr/include/sys/types.h to change 1024 to 2048 (This is madness, I am sure) and recompile apache, it runs fine. Can someone please help me out of this. My solution is not perfect, even in my mind, as I am sure it will break something on the system. My scripts to compile apache are here: http://ns2.wananchi.com/~wash/Apache/1.3.29/apache+ssl+php+modperl.sh Thanks in advance. -Wash http://www.netmeister.org/news/learn2quote.html -- +======================================================================+ |\ _,,,---,,_ | Odhiambo Washington <wash@wananchi.com> Zzz /,`.-'`' -. ;-;;,_ | Wananchi Online Ltd. www.wananchi.com |,4- ) )-,_. ,\ ( `'-'| Tel: +254 20 313985-9 +254 20 313922 '---''(_/--' `-'\_) | GSM: +254 722 743223 +254 733 744121 +======================================================================+ Conceit causes more conversation than wit. -- LaRouchefoucauld
