OK, here is a strange one. Using the stock sendmail in FreeBSD STABLE, I am seeing strange timeouts to some hosts. e.g. mail to ica.net via icamail.ica.net. Its defiantly listening, but a stock sendmail on FreeBSD immediately gives. The transaction below mail -v postmaster@ica.net Subject: test ignore EOT postmaster@ica.net... Connecting to icamail.ica.net. via esmtp... postmaster@ica.net... Connecting to mail6.ica.net. via esmtp... postmaster@ica.net... Deferred: Operation timed out with mail6.ica.net. takes about 1 second Yet, smtp1# telnet icamail.ica.net smtp Trying 209.151.129.144... Connected to icamail.ica.net. Escape character is '^]'. 220 ica.net VOPmail ESMTP Receiver Version 5.0.193.0 Ready If I grab the sources from ftp.sendmail.org and ./Build install it works as expected. Does anyone know whats special about the generic FreeBSD version that would cause this ? ---Mike -------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike Tancsa, tel +1 519 651 3400 Sentex Communications, mike@sentex.net Providing Internet since 1994 www.sentex.net Cambridge, Ontario Canada www.sentex.net/mike To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-stable" in the body of the message
