It's hard to know who's going to be protective of their code to a large 
extent and who isn't...  I tend to not commit to something I've only seen 
one person touch and they wrote in the first place unless they say it's okay.

There still is the other problem... I'd like to know if anyone has newmidi 
actually doing anything.  That is, for example, /dev/sequencer.

I can understand that they're horrible from an architectural standpoint and 
should have been killed long ago.  It's just that when Soren killed them the 
first time, newpcm just wasn't ready to replace VoxWare yet ;)  I'm glad to 
see crufty old stuff leave.
