You could download the src-dist of the latest -stable snap- shot from one of the FTP servers. For example, try to ftp to releng4.freebsd.org and go to /pub/FreeBSD/snapshots/i386/4.2-20010323-STABLE and down- load the complete "src" directory (use wget or a dedicated FTP mirror tool such as "omi"). There's an install script included (don't just blindly run it -- read it first!).
