Not directly related to your query ... i doubt that installing Linux would help any as the problem is, IMO, w/ the included/implemented ACPI support from Dell. Only APM worked for me (FreeBSD 4.x) which was good only to check battery power level; did not try much or any power management in Windows Me. But don't let me hold you back. If you find that Linux provides usable better support wrt ACPI, more power to both of you. - Parv --
