I've verified this on two machines recently, but it seems that at least since the lite2 merge, "mc" seems broken. It mostly works, but is prone to hanging, and will *always* hang when type ^O to get to the background/pty shell. I tried both the pre-compiled port, then building it fresh from sources (not that I expected this to make a difference, but this was the road of Least Effort<tm> :-)). Before I waste a couple of hours looking into this, does anyone have any ideas? According to ps, it seems to be hung in "sbwait". Yes, yes, "real programmers" don't need a wimpy shell, but mc does some particular tasks very neatly and takes a lot less time to type than a multiline commandline (namely renaming using shell patterns).
