I am not sure if that changes much for FreeBSD.

They stopped supporting those methods as in they do not provide support for
issues with such installations.  The methods still work, e.g., for developers.
But they didn't provide support for FreeBSD anyway.

Quoting the announcement:
However, after those six months have elapsed, these methods will become
unsupported, which means issue reports will no longer be accepted. As these
installation methods are used for the development of Home Assistant, it will
still be technically possible to update them.
