Something like this in ~/.procmailrc

:0 Wh: msgid.lock
| $FORMAIL -D 8192 msgid.cache

or like this in ~/.mailfilter

`reformail -D 8000 duplicate.cache`
if ( $RETURNCODE == 0 )
  exit


I'm sure other delivery agents will have similar functionality.
