Why duplicate code when it's not necessary? It was originally from NetBSD's ftp(1), I believe. I also don't see the need for duplicate functionality here. But since we will eventually be using lukemftp (aka NetBSD's ftp(1)) anyway, there's no point in removing the functionality.
