I should clarify this - Uli is spending a lot of time and putting substantial effort into the conversion. What I mean here is that high fidelity conversion old branches is both a low priority and I believe a relatively small portion of the overall effort, and that dropping it won't make a material difference in when we're finished with the conversion, in light of the effort required to make sure that we're ready to deal with subtree / vendor updates in the git world.
