I was recently put in charge of a project involving FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE. =
The
goal of the project is to configure a FreeBSD based web cluster. Natural=
ly,
we are looking for fail-over and load-balancing solutions. (The load-bala=
ncing
solution would direct HTTP request to the best available web node. The
director would hopefully run on a FreeBSD system as I was given no fundin=
g for
additional hardware. Basically, FreeBSD or bust.)

Are there existing solutions? I did a search of freebsd-cluster with the
phrase "load balancing" and came up a bit short on information. (The arch=
ives
for freebsd-questions wasn't searchable for some reason.) Any tips or lea=
ds on
this?

I recently worked with Linux and LVS (on a Red Hat High Availability Serv=
ice
cluster), and that type of setup would be ideal. (Alas, changing to LVS i=
s
also not an option.) Just an example of what would be really nice to have=
 in
terms of features for the solution. :)

Regards, Dustin
