I got it:
# cd /usr/port/ports-mgmt/portmaster
# make deinstall
# make rmconfig
# make reinstall
- select pkgngpatch > Okay
Perhaps it was portmaster depending on automake, so you might want to run
portmaster -s
===>>> automake-1.12.4 is no longer depended on, delete? y/n [n] y
===>>> Deleting all distfiles for devel/automake

===>>> Running pkg delete -f automake-1.12.4
The following packages will be deinstalled:
automake-1.12.4
