A quick status update on the PS3: after some help from Geoff Levand with the memory management hypervisor calls, I now have FreeBSD/powerpc64 booted multi-user! The port is still in a very rough state, mostly due to lack of drivers: there is no USB yet, no WLAN, no hard drive access, SMP performance is bad due to not properly suspending the non-primary thread, you can't use the SPUs, etc. For those interested in trying it out anyway, sources can be obtained from svn://svn.freebsd.org/base/user/nwhitehorn/ps3, or I've put a pre-built kernel and loader that can be used for netbooting at http://people.freebsd.org/~nwhitehorn/ps3/. You will need a "fat" PS3 with firmware earlier than 3.21. -Nathan
